Job Description
We are looking for a part-time Maintenance employee to work at a local church in Crossville, TN!
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the proper upkeep and functionality of the church buildings, grounds, and equipment. Duties include routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of basic maintenance principles, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform minor building repairs, including doors, drywall, ceiling tiles, and painting.
- Replace light bulbs, electrical outlets, switches, and other basic electrical tasks.
- Conduct plumbing repairs including fixing/replacing fixtures, valves, and unclogging drains.
- Monitor HVAC systems and ensure all mechanical systems are operational.
- Test emergency lighting and exit signs periodically.
- Inspect fire extinguishers as required.
- Oversee contractors and outside repair services on church properties.
- Complete work orders and maintain records of maintenance activities.
- Restock maintenance supplies and manage inventory.
- Ensure all safety procedures and building codes are followed.
- Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Maintenance experience preferred (plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
- Basic understanding of building systems and the ability to read technical manuals.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and using ladders/lifts/scaffolding.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must pass background check and drug screening.
Work Schedule:
Hours: 4 hours/day, 5 days/week (20 hours total per week) -- may start with 4 days/week at 5 hours/day.
Flexibility: Schedule may vary based on budget and maintenance needs. Changes must be agreed upon by both the employee and the Facilities Management Committee.
